A gift exchange needs identities inside the group, but it does not automatically need everyone’s email address or a new account. GiftDraw keeps the workflow inside the channel your group already uses: the organizer enters display names, creates one valid assignment, and privately sends each named person a separate capability link.
Start with one clear participant list
Confirm the final group before creating the draw. Use names that are unambiguous inside the group and remove blank or duplicate entries. GiftDraw requires at least three people and does not allow editing after assignments exist, because changing the group would invalidate distributed secrets.
Add only exclusions the group actually needs
Partners or members of one household may prefer not to draw each other. GiftDraw exclusions are mutual: if Maya cannot draw Noah, Noah cannot draw Maya. Too many exclusions can make a complete one-to-one assignment impossible, so keep them focused.
Distribute one private link at a time
The organizer page lists names and personal links but not assignments. Copy or show the QR code beside the same participant, then send it in a direct message. Never paste every link into the group chat.
Understand capability-link privacy
A complete participant URL is a bearer credential. Whoever holds it can reveal that participant’s recipient. The organizer distributes these links and could technically open one, so use GiftDraw with a trusted organizer and do not claim stronger secrecy than the workflow provides.
Keep gift planning in the tools that already fit
GiftDraw performs the draw and reveal only. It does not send email, collect payments, recommend products, or host conversations. Agree on budget and logistics in the existing group channel; use a focused wishlist when the group also needs gift ideas.
